This project is located in a small town not far from Trieste, along a sloping road that from Barcola reaches Prosecco. All of a sudden the narrow road before coming to a dead end turns into a bridge which leads you the house entrance or down to the lower terrace through a series of steps and from there you can appreciate the Gulf of Trieste in all its beauty. The living areas at ground level are enclosed by a series of facet window frames in order to capture the stunning views from various perspective points. The infinity swimming pool lies along the main side of the building sunken within the terrace, surrounded by the natural environment and does not block the views from inside. A small number of walls and thin pillars have been painstakingly erected on the concrete surface and support the floor above which contains the bedrooms and a studio or play area. Located at 207 metres altitude, the building is thought to play along with nature rather than going against it. Under blue skies the building appears calm and serene whilst in stormy weather it has a striking and tormented air about it. The internal spaces may appear austere or empty: just a static element for the kitchen with a feature wall in local stone to represent an anchor point. The Gulf of Trieste and the surrounding vineyards reinvent continually the space of experience. The painting in the main lounge is made by Voijslav Stojanović.
